Lau Hochi is an interdisciplinary artist that creates devices and situations. He is interested in how interfaces choreograph everyday life. He is also interested in the moment when meaning snaps into awareness in coincidences. He creates situations that examine, exagerate, and aestheticise the everyday experiences.
Lau received his MFA in Art from Carnegie Mellon University and BA in Creative Media from City University of Hong Kong. He has been awarded and exhibited internationally at Japan Media Art Festival, Ars Electronica Festival, Sónar Festival, and Miller Institute for Contemporary Art. His practice has been supported by the Asian Cultural Council, the Altius Fellowship, and the Regina Gouger Miller Fellowship.
